St. Joseph’s one step closer to final

The evening session of day 2 was a key part of the Sri Lanka Schools Under 17 A Division Basketball Tournament, as it played host to decide which 2 teams will be contesting in the finals. Presbytarian Girls School went head to head against St. Joseph’s Girls School.

Presbytarian Girls School v St. Joseph’s Girls School

In the opening match of the session St. Joseph’s Girls School looked to get back to their winning form as they stumbled during the morning session. Presbytarian Girls School on the other hand was looking for revenge on their loss to St. Joseph’s in the under 13 final. The girls from Nugegoda far from their peak form started the game in sloppy fashion. The Presbytarians had only themselves to blame as they kept missing simple shots at the basket. At the end of the first half the scores read 19-10 in favour of St. Joseph’s.

As the start of the second half came about both teams stepped up their individual game as the game became fast paced. However, a fast game did bring about a game full of mistakes. All it took was one 3 pointer from H.K. Thisari to start things off for the girls in Nugegoda as they started to extend their lead to make the scoreboard read 44-30 at the final buzzer.
