St. Joseph’s College, Darley Road, Colombo, playing in their own backyard, won the overall championship of the Under-15 Colombo North Zonal Schools Basketball Championship beating St. Benedict’s College, Kotahena 72-56 at Darley Road on Monday.
Sameen Perera of St. Joseph’s was named as the most valuable player of the tournament while his team-mate Rehan Keyser was adjudged the best of offensive player of the tournament. Nishik Perera of St. Benedict’s was named as the best defensive player.
Meanwhile Gateway International School, Rajagirya won the consolation final beating D. S. Senanayake College, Colombo.
There will be five teams which will be selected for the ‘A’ division basketball Tournament that will get underway shortly.
