All rounder Priyamal Perera was the cynosure of all eyes as he led Nalanda to a crushing innings and 78 run win over Maris Stella College, in their U-19 cricket match concluded at Darley Road today.

In response to hosts 286 for 6 declared, Maris Stella could muster 114 in the first innings and 94 in the second innings as Josephian feasted on a poor batting performance to record comprehensive victory.

Perera who struck a fine 81 off 77 balls on day one to propel their score picked up a match bag of five for 40 to push for their convincing win. He returned figures of three for 21 in the first innings and followed it up with two for 19 in the second innings.

Resuming from their overnight score of 104 for 6, the visitors could add just 10 runs to their overnight score as St. Joseph’s ran through the innings with some tight bowling. Chathuranga Silva with a fighting 61 was the top scorer in the first innings while Rasanjaya Silva made a top score of 25 as they folded for 94 runs inside 44 overs.
