Moors Sports Club were crowned champions of the SLC Major Club 50 Over Tournament 2026 after defeating Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) in the final played at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.
Having been asked to bat first, Moors SC posted 260 runs on the board, with Ramesh Mendis leading the way with a valuable 85 off 91 balls, including 5 fours and a six.
For SSC, left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya was the standout bowler, claiming 4 wickets for 44 runs. Left-arm seamer Mihiranga Nimsara also impressed with 3 wickets for 36 runs.
In reply, SSC fought hard but were bowled out for 235 runs, falling 25 runs short of the target. Nipun Dhananjaya led the chase with a fighting 98 off 112 balls, striking 8 fours and a six.
Moors SC’s left-arm spinner Induwara Udena was the star with the ball, returning excellent figures of 4 wickets for 49 runs. Right-arm seamer Milan Rathnayake also played a key role with 3 wickets for 33 runs.
