Lady Tuskers will leave the country ahead of the Asian 7’s series second leg  tomorrow morning which will take place on 18th & 19th this month in Beijing, China. Ladies secured the plate in the first leg in Hong Kong beating Thailand in the finals 19 – 14.

It was tough in the first leg in Hong Kong playing in the astro turf where the immense heat was hard to handle for Chandrishan’s girls as they needed loads of Ice water, just to cool off their boots. In addition to this there were a few injuries in the camp. However,  this time around the grass will come into play which would be easier on the girls in Beijing.

Sri Lanka lost all three group matches in the first leg in Hong Kong, China 38 – 00, Thailand 24 – 00 and the host won 22 -00 respectively. Nevertheless, the girls made a strong come back in the day two beating Singapore 26 – 10 in the plate semi finals and Thailand in the finals in extra time with a stunning try by Anusha Attanayake to end as worthy winners by 19 – 14.

Sri Lanka currently ranks 5th in Asia which is a tremendous achievement with minimal resources they work with in comparison to the other countries. “we have to play with Hong Kong and Kazakhstan in the group game, we try to play our best and win one of those tough matches and we want to end in the cup.” said by the captain Ayesha Perera to ThePapare.com.
