Sri Lankan cricketers test negative for Covid-19

The PCR tests conducted on 36 players and officials of the Sri Lanka Cricket squad after the COVID 19 positive diagnoses of coach Mickey Arthur and batsman Lahiru Thirimanne have yielded negative results. 

36 Sri Lankan cricketers, support staff and other officials associated with the national team underwent PCR tests yesterday and the results of those tests were released today with all of them been negative for Covid-19.

Sri Lanka Cricket had initially planned to tour West Indies for two Tests, three ODIs and three T20 internationals but the tour was postponed after Arthur and Thirimanne were tested positive for COVID-19 on the 3rd of February.

Prior to that, while being involved in practice sessions, fast bowlers Binura Fernando and Chamika Karunaratne were the first to be infected with the virus.

With these PCR results, Sri Lankan cricketers will be able to recommence their training sessions and it have also given a green light for the rescheduling of the postponed West Indies series.
