Sri Lanka Women produced a spirited all-round performance to defeat Bangladesh Women in the second ODI and level the three-match series 1-1 in convincing fashion.

After winning the toss, Bangladesh Women opted to bat first, but their innings never quite gained the desired momentum against a disciplined Sri Lankan bowling attack. Skipper Nigar Sultana led from the front with a fighting 58, standing tall amid regular setbacks.

However, the rest of the batting lineup struggled to build partnerships, eventually being bowled out for 165 runs.

Sri Lanka’s bowlers shared the workload effectively, with Chamari Athapaththu delivering a standout spell of 3 for 36. She was well supported by Inoka Ranaweera, Malki Madara, and Nimasha Meepage, who picked up two wickets apiece to keep Bangladesh in check throughout the innings.

In response, Sri Lanka approached the chase with composure, despite losing a few wickets along the way. The foundation of the innings was built by a steady middle-order effort from Harshitha Samarawickrama, who top-scored with a crucial 50, anchoring the chase at a key stage.

She received valuable support from skipper Chamari Athapaththu and Hansima Karunaratne, both contributing 40 runs each to ensure Sri Lanka stayed on track. Their combined efforts guided the visitors to the target in the 39th over, finishing with four wickets in hand.
