Sri Lanka who suffered a demoralizing four wicket win on Friday came back strongly to level the three match series 1-1 with a crushing four wicket win in the second ODI played at Dambulla on Sunday.
It was a brilliant effort by the Sri Lankan lasses who outclassed the visitors in all three departments ahead of the crucial final ODI on Tuesday.
Electing to bat first, West Indies got off to nightmarish start losing two wickets in successive balls in the second over for one run as left arm medium pacer Udeshika Prabodhani bowled opener Ogle Thomas (1) and one down bat Stefani Taylor (0) in her first over before trapping Juliana in the next over to send West Indies reeling at 3 for 3.
Continuing with their brilliant bowling performances Sri Lanka reduced the visitors to five for 23 runs before middle order bat Shemaine Campbelle crafted a fighting century to lead the West Indies to a decent 180. Deandra Dottin made a useful contribution with the bat scoring 35, playing second fiddle Campbelle.
Prabodhani claimed three for 35 while Sripali Weerakkody captured three for 19.
Sri Lanka too got off to the worse possible start losing a wicket early but managed to chase down the target with 27 balls remaining.
Deepika Rasangika scored a patient 55 off 96 balls to lead Sri Lanka’s victory. Dilani Manodara was unbeaten on 38 and Sripali Weerakkody hit a 20-ball 21.
