 Sri Lanka U19 registered a thrilling 3-wicket win over Pakistan U19 in the fourth Youth ODI today (29th October) at Karachi to level the 5-match series, 2-2.

Sri Lanka Skipper Sineth Jayawardene won the toss and invited the hosts to take the first lease of the wicket.

Sri Lanka started off brilliantly as off-spinner Vihas Thewmika castled the hosts’ opening batter Shamyl Hussain for 11 runs. However, the opening batter Shahzaib Khan and No. 3 batter Saad Baig rescued Pakistan’s innings, building a century stand for the 2nd wicket.

Sri Lanka managed to make a grand comeback in the middle phase of the innings, as leg-spinner Malsha Tharupathi ripped through the Pakistan batting lineup taking 4 wickets for 17 runs.

After being 1 for 113 at one stage, the hosts faced a major collapse in the middle to lose 9 wickets for just 73 runs.

In reply, Sri Lanka also faced a setback at the start of their innings, losing 4 wickets for 42 runs. Rusanda Gamage and Dinura Kalupahana revived the visitors innings, adding an 84-run stand for the 5th wicket.

Kalupahana top scored for the visitors with a match winning knock of 61 runs off 77 balls with 5 fours and a six, helping his side get over the line in the 40th over with 3 wickets in hand.

The fifth and final ODI of the series will be played on the 31st of October at the same venue.
