Pakistan down Sri Lanka to snatch series leveling win

Pakistan U19 beat Sri Lanka U19 in the second Youth ODI today (24th October) at Karachi to level the 5-match series, 1-1.

The hosts’ Skipper Saad Baig won the toss and opted to bat first, managing to post 254 runs on the board courtesy of brilliant half-centuries made by Arafat Minhas and Shamyl Hussain.

Baig top scored for Pakistan with a knock of 95 runs off 66 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes, while Hussain contributed with 53 runs off 84 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes.

Garuka Sanketh and Ruvishan Perera starred with the ball for the visitors, picking up 3 wickets each. In reply, Sri Lanka opening pair Pulindu Perera and Sineth Jayawardene got their team off to a solid start, putting on 54 runs for the first wicket.

However, the Sri Lankan middle and lower batting order were unable to capitalize on the start as they were bowled out for just 195 runs, handing a 59-run win for the hosts. Perera, who stroked a brilliant century in the last game, got off to a blazing start to his innings, but departed after top scoring for the visitors with a knock of 36 runs off 28 balls with 7 fours.

Ubaid Shah and Ahmed Hussain stood out with the ball for the hosts, picking up 3 wickets each. The third Youth ODI of the 5-match series will be played on the 27th of October at the same venue.
