Sri Lanka U19 squad picked for West Indies series

Royal College batter Sineth Jayawardene is set to lead the Sri Lanka U19 team in the upcoming series against West Indies U19. 

Richmond College leg-spinning all-rounder Malsha Tharupathi will be Jayawardene’s deputy in this series which consists of 2 Youth Tests and 3 Youth ODIs. 

Trinity College, Kandy, St. Peter’s College, Colombo and St. Joseph Vaz College Wennappuwa have two players each in the squad. 

Nine players – Malsha Tharupathi, Dinura Kalupahana, Sineth Jayawardena, Vihas Thewmika, Vishen Halambage, Hiran Jayasundara, Vishva Lahiru, Garuka Sanketh and Vishwa Rajapaksa who were part of Sri Lanka U19 squad that toured UAE to take part in a Tri-series in their last assignment, have been retained in this 20-member squad.  

The tour will begin with a warmup game which will be played on the 25th August at CCC Grounds in Colombo. The 3-match ODI series will be played from 27th August to 1st September at Dambulla International Cricket Stadium while the 2-match Test series will be played from 5th September to 15th September at the same venue.
