Sri Lanka enjoyed a productive opening day in their four-day warm-up match against the West Indies Select XI, which commenced on 18th June at the Coolidge Cricket Grounds.
Having won the toss, Sri Lankan skipper Dhananjaya de Silva opted to bowl first, and the decision paid off as the visitors restricted the West Indies Select XI to 205 runs in their first innings.

Opening batter Kirk McKenzie led the resistance for the home side with a well-compiled 58, while the Sri Lankan bowlers maintained consistent pressure throughout the innings.
Fast bowler Lahiru Kumara was the standout performer with the ball, claiming four wickets for 39 runs. He received good support from fellow seamer Asitha Fernando, who chipped in with two wickets for 26 runs.
In response, Sri Lanka made a steady start to their first innings and reached 38 for 1 at stumps on Day 1, trailing by 167 runs with nine wickets in hand.
