Sri Lanka take on Bangladesh under new regime

Sri Lanka- Bangladesh Series sponsored by Dhaka Bank will commence 8th of March 2013 and will be worked-off in Colombo, Pallekele and Hambanthota. This was revealed in a media briefing held at Taj Samudra yesterday.

 

New skipper Angelo Mathews addressed the gathering and said Kumar Sangakkara, who missed the Australian tour due to a fractured finger, will be participating in the series which sees veteran batsman and former skipper Mahela Jayawardane sitting out due to fracture on his finger. “Sangakkara is recovering pretty well and probably he will face the first test at Galle. Mahela Jayawardane will not participate in the test series. Most probably after the acknowledgement of the physiotherapist he will face the next matches after the test series”

Also, Mushfiqur Rahim, Captain of Bangladesh expressed the Bangladeshis star all-rounder Shakib Al Hassan will not be take part in the series due to injury as well.

Furthermore it was revealed that the Sri Lanka squad for the Bangladesh tour has yet to be announced and will be done within the next few days.

Bangladesh face a provisional Sri Lanka squad for a three day warm up game at Uyanwatta Stadium on Sunday. The first Test will commence Friday 8th March at the Galle International Stadium followed by the second at the R Premadasa International stadium.

The first two ODIs will be played at the Mahinda Rajapakse Stadium Suriyawewa while the 3rd ODI and singular T20 will be played at the Pallekelle Stadium in Kandy.
