Two games of the SLC Major Emerging League got underway today, 14th October 2019. Panadura Sports Club is playing Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club at Bloomfield grounds in Colombo while the Chilaw Marians are hosting Kalutara Town Club at Marians Cricket Grounds in Katunayake.
Lasith Croospulle grabbed the spotlight for the day with an ecstatic century to put his club, Chilaw Marians Cricket Club, well ahead of the Kalutara Town Club.
KTC won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first. They finished their first-innings at 327 runs losing all their wickets. Deshan Sanjeewa also scored 79 runs supporting Croospulle on the other end. Isuru Pradeep was the top-performer with the ball as he bagged a fifer for 65 runs.
The other was a rain-affected affair in Colombo as the game started well after the first half of the day but also came to a close early due to the rain.
In the passage of 13.2 overs which the weather gods permitted in the day, Panadura Sports Club scored 38 runs and lost 2 wickets. Opening bowler Andrew Parys bagged both wickets while left-handed wicket keeper bat, Vishva Chathuranga remained unbeaten at the crease with 27 runs.
