Shehan Jayasuriya stole the limelight in the evening session of the Sri Lanka Cricket Major T20 tournament that began today (15).

Shehan Jayasuriya – who has fallen out of the National set up – put up a stunning individual effort to secure a breathtaking last ball win for Negombo CC.

Negombo were home off the final delivery as Jayasuriya remained unbeaten on 91*, while Sandun Dias hit a quick-fire 25.

30’s from Jeevan Mendis and Ramith Rambukwella helped Tamil Union post 160/9, before the same duo shared six wickets among them to bowl out Kandy Customs for just 95 runs.

Army vs Kurunegala

Dinushka Malan’s classic spell of seam bowling restricted Army to 130 all-out, but the soldiers fought back to secure a stunning 26 run victory.

Malan grabbed four scalps while Chandima Vijayabandara picked up three wickets as Sanjula Ridma’s 34 helped Army to 130 all-out.

Kurunegala messed up the run chase as they were bowled out for 104 with almost three overs to spare, as Army’s golden boy Dushan Vimukthi led them to victory once again with a four-wicket haul.

KTC posted 134/6 on the back of a half-century from former Thomian Nipuna Gamage, but the rest of the batsmen struggled to give them a good finish as Eranga Ratnayake made 27 off 41 balls.

CCC secured the win in 15.2 overs with Madawa Warnapura also making 47 runs.
