Three matches of the Sri Lanka Cricket Major Emerging League Tournament 2018 were conducted today in several venues. All-round skills of Gayan Sirisoma helped Galle Cricket Club to secure first innings points against Chilaw Marians Cricket Club.

Galle Cricket Club vs Chilaw Marians Cricket Club

Galle Cricket Club managed to secure first innings points against Chilaw Marians in their encounter which concluded today at R. Premadasa Cricket Stadium. All-round skills of Gayan Sirisoma helped the southern lads to overcome the challenge from Chilaw Marians in the drawn encounter.

Navy Sports Club vs Bloomfield Cricket Club

The encounter between Navy Sports Club and Bloomfield Cricket Club also ended in a draw today at Navy grounds in Welisara but the crucial first innings points were won by Bloomfield Cricket Club. After being 38 for no wicket overnight, the visitors managed to post 170 runs on the board securing 59-run lead in the first innings.

However the hosts showed a much better batting display in the second innings scoring 253 runs for 9 wickets. Chasing 177 runs to win, visitors were in deep trouble on 40 for 5 wickets at close of play.

Colombo Cricket Club vs U19 Blue

Colombo Cricket Club’s skipper won the toss and elected to field first against U19 Blue today at CCCG grounds. Inexperienced U19 Blue side was bundled out for just 106 runs in 39.5 overs. Madawa Warnapura and Wanidu Hasaranga picked up 5 wickets each for the hosts. In reply, the hosts were 84 runs for 2 wickets at stumps on day one.
