SLC Major Clubs T20 Tournament 2025 kicked off today (16th May) with six matches happening at several grounds in Colombo.
Burgher Recreation Club, Colombo Cricket Club, Nondescripts Cricket Club, Bloomfield Cricket & Athletic Club, Moors Sports Club and Colts Cricket Club registered wins in the opening day of the tournament.
Movin Subasingha of BRC was the standout batter of the day as he smashed 72 runs off 27 balls with 4 fours and 7 sixes against Police SC. Along with Subasingha, left-arm spinner Shashika Dulshan who picked up 4 wickets for 20 runs, played pivotal roles in BRC’s comfortable win over Police SC.
Sri Lanka National T20I Team’s opening batter Pathum Nissanka was also amongst the runs as he made 50 runs off 21 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes, guiding NCC to their opening win against Kurunegala YCC. NCC No. 3 batter Lahiru Udara also struck a blazing fifty – 56 off 25 balls, setting the tone for the victory.
Bloomfield C & AC registered a walk in the park victory over Nugegoda S & WC courtesy of brilliant bowling performances from Ravindu Fernando (4/5) and Dulaj Samuditha (4/13).
The duo shared 8 wickets between them to restrict Nugegoda batting lineup for just 57 runs. Bloomfield C & AC cruised to the target in just 7.1 overs with 7 wickets in hand.
