Panadura Sports Club, Colombo Cricket Club, Nondescripts Cricket Club and Ace Capital Cricket Club registered outright victories as six matches in the fifth week of the SLC Major Club 3-Day League 2025/26 concluded today (4 January), while the remaining two encounters ended in draws.
Colombo Cricket Club secured a comfortable win over Chilaw Marians CC in their Group A fixture played at the Colts Grounds, Colombo. Speedster Asitha Fernando starred with the ball, finishing with a match haul of eight wickets, claiming four wickets in each innings. CCC’s chase was then powered by a blistering century from Lasith Croospulle, who smashed 128 off just 81 deliveries, including 12 fours and 8 sixes, striking at an impressive rate of 158 to hunt down the target of 196 with ease.

In Group B action, Nondescripts Cricket Club registered an emphatic innings victory over Badureliya SC at Hambantota. Chamika Karunaratne led the batting effort with a fine century, scoring 121 runs off 186 balls with 4 fours and a six. Left-arm spinner Shakthi Udara played a decisive role with the ball, returning match figures of 8 wickets for 119 runs to seal NCC’s dominant win.
Panadura Sports Club recorded a 58-run victory over Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club in their Group A encounter played at Maggona. The Panadura batting unit laid a solid foundation with half-centuries from Shehan Jayasuriya, Nimesh Vimukthi and Dushan Vimukthi. Mohamed Dilshad then proved instrumental with the ball, picking up seven wickets across the match to guide Panadura SC to a valuable outright win.
Ace Capital Cricket Club also enjoyed success in Group B, defeating BRC by six wickets at the P. Sara Oval Grounds, Colombo. Pawantha Weerasinghe was the standout with the bat, producing a brilliant century to anchor the chase. Roshan Jayatissa made a major impact with the ball, claiming a match haul of eight wickets, while Wanuja Sahan contributed with an all-round performance to cap off a comprehensive win for Ace Capital CC.
There were several other standout individual performances across the week as well. Minod Bhanuka and Sharujan Shanmuganathan of Tamil Union C & AC, along with Gayan Maneeshan and Sameera Sadamal of Kurunegala YCC, produced fine centuries, while Ashen Bandara also reached three figures for Police Sports Club.
With the ball, Mohamed Shiraz (BRC), Adeesha Thilanchana (Badureliya SC), Dilum Sudeera (Police SC) and Ravindu Fernando (Bloomfield C & AC) delivered impressive spells, each claiming five-wicket hauls to make their mark in the fifth week of the tournament.
