The first week’s matches of the Plate segment of the SLC Major Club 3-Day League 2025/26 concluded today (January 25), producing one outright result, while the remaining two encounters ended in draws.

Badureliya Sports Club registered a comfortable victory over Nugegoda Sports & Welfare Club in their encounter played at Kurunegala, emerging as the only side to secure an outright win during the opening week. Badureliya SC’s success was built around a magnificent century from Dilshan de Soysa and a decisive bowling performance from Buddika Sanjeewa.

Soysa anchored the innings with a superb 145 off 250 deliveries, striking 14 boundaries, as Badureliya SC posted a commanding total. Sanjeewa then played a pivotal role with the ball, claiming a match haul of seven wickets to dismantle the Nugegoda batting lineup and seal a convincing win.

The other two matches ended without a result but witnessed several standout individual batting performances. Kasun Vidura produced a career-defining knock for Chilaw Marians Cricket Club, scoring his maiden double century in first-class cricket. Meanwhile, centuries from Navod Paranavithana, Shehan Jayasuriya, and Sammu Ashan lit up the drawn encounters, representing Tamil Union C & AC, Panadura Sports Club, and Chilaw Marians CC respectively.
