Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has called for tenders to seek a suitable Sports Marketing/Management agency to sponsor their newest brainchild; Lanka T10 Super League.

The agency that wins the bid will have the total rights to the said tournament and will be managing all franchise ownership rights too just like IPG company’s role in Lanka Premier League (LPL).

According to the SLC, the tournament will be a 6-team tournament comprised of 17 matches including semifinals and a final. The tournament is proposed to play out during 11 match days at two international venues, the Rangiri Dambulla and Pallekele international Cricket Stadiums.

Each team will have 16 player squads including a maximum of 6 foreign players and a support staff of 10 personnel including 2 overseas coaches.

SLC CEO Ashley de Silva spoke to ESPN Cricinfo on the tournament, “it (Lanka T10 Super League) would help Sri Lanka Cricket in a commercial sense, but it’s also a new concept. It will be more interesting for the spectators, while it will also bring something new to the country, England is going to play The Hundred, so it’s always good to be innovative; it’s all about popularizing the game.”

However, a fully-fledged detailed plan has not been released about the tournament and SLC hopes to hold the tournament sometime in 2021. But it will be tough task to find a window for this tournament with all the postponed tours and already scheduled tournaments for national teams in 2021.

SLC is also hoping to host the inaugural Lanka Premier League tournament  November/December this year according to their latest media release. However, the current COVID-19 developments would only make their plans more challenging than ever.
