Kotmale Chox U19 Schools Football Championship will kickoff for the second year with 24 schools participating from all over the island.

The 24 teams will be initially divided into 4 groups where they will play on a league basis – each team playing five matches. Then the top two of each group will be selected and those 8 teams will again be divided into two groups playing 5 matches each. Top two of those two groups will qualify for the semifinals.

Of the 24 teams participating St.Henry’s College Jaffna will be participating in an all island tournament after a lapse of 43 years. St.Henry’s were involved in national level schools’ football back in 1972 and their return will be a huge boost for war-torn north which is rebuilding rapidly.

Last year’s Champions Zahira College will have their work cut out against runners up St.Peter’s, Hameed Al Husseinie, Maris Stella, De Mazenod, St.Benedict’s as well as from Richmond, St.Servatius from the south and St.Joseph’s College Anuradhapura.

Mr. D. Chandrasiri ,the Technical Director briefed the Schools representatives of participating schools on the 2015 version of the Kotmale U19 schools Football tournament to be kicked off on the 16th of June,2015 at City Football League Grounds, Colombo.

Chandrasiri outlined the tournament rules and regulations, the responsibilities of teams with regards to participation and also sponsor obligations, player registration, accreditations, substitutes and jersey colours etc.
