Samaposha strengthens U15 football for 7th year

The Samaposha Schools Football Tournament will be kicked off for the 7th consecutive year with over 400 schools competing for boys’ and over 100 teams competing for girls’  championships. 

The Football Federation of Sri Lanka in Association with Sri Lanka Schools Football is conducting the tournament which is sponsored by Plenty Foods (Pvt) Limited, a subsidiary of CBL Group.

Mr.Shammi Karunaratne the Director/ CEO of Plenty Foods addressing the media said that they are happy to be partners for 7 years and are delighted that many  young boys and girls who played in the past have become National level players and have become not only good football players but also  good citizen of the country.

As a company which is truly national they contribute to build a healthy nation with balanced nutrition supplements and an active participation of sports at school level.  _DSC8749

The tournament will be played in 25 districts which includes 32 zones. Out of the 441 boys team close to 100 boys teams and 20 teams from the 116 girls teams are from the north and north central provinces.

Mr.Anura de Silva the President of FFSL expressed his gratitude to Samaposha for continuing its’ valuable sponsorship and being an active partner in promoting of football the worlds no.1 sport in Sri Lanka.

He stressed the point that at this junior level these competitions are very important as they drive children in to enhance their physical endurance and many aspects which contributes to be a good citizen of the country. He assured the sponsors that a well conducted tournament in association with the Sri Lanka Schools Football.

Mr. Sarath Ratnaweera, secretary of Sri Lanka Schools Football Association briefed the competition calendar and the format and said they will conduct the tournament with the assistance of their Regional Schools Coordinators to make it a success.

Mrs.Theja Peiris the Group General Manager of CBL, Mr.Nilupul De Silva Marketing Manager Plenty Foods too participated at the media briefing.
