The third week of the Sri Lanka Cricket Premier League Tier ‘A’ & ‘B’ Tournaments concluded on christmas eve with pre-tournament favorites SSC and NCC heading their respective groups in the tier ‘A’ segment.

We at thepapare.com take a look at some of the most notable performances and matches from the week while also taking you through what is in store for the upcoming weekend.

The discarded Test batsman Kaushal Silva’s double hundred was the top batting performance from the weekend, but it was Wanindu Hasaranga who stole the show with a brilliant all round performance. His century and 8/26 in the seconds innings helped CCC demolish a strong Colts outfit by an innings and 158 runs. While Silva made a double hundred, Sri Lanka Test opener Dimuth Karunaratne made 143 as the duo werem involved in a record breaking opening stand of 305 for SSC against Bloomfield. The other centurions in the tier ‘A’ segment from the weekend were Janith Liyanage, Nipun Karunanayake, Manoj Sarathchandra, Madawa Warnapura, Deshan Dias and Angelo Perera.

Hasaranga’s 8 wickets led the bowling charts but left arm spinner Sahan Nanayakkara’s hatrick helped Ragama CC secure first innings points over Saracens SC as Nanayakkara ended with a five wicket haul in the first innings. Another left arm tweaker Lasith Embuldeniya continued his impressive bowling form when he registered his second ten wicket haul in the season in just the third match to lead NCC to a brilliant outright victory over BRC, while he also became the leading wicket taker with 27 scalps in this tournament.

Lankan CC recorded the only outright win in the tier ‘B’ segment when they overcame Air Force SC in Maggona. Chanaka Ruwansiri’s unbeaten 120* not out set up the game for Lankan’s as they cruised to a 7 wicket win, while wicket keeper batsman Udayawansa Parakrama made a fighting second innings century for the Airmen in a losing cause.

Former Peterite Vinod Perera more known for his fast bowling, hit a magnificent 138 for Panadura SC to lead them to a first innings win over Kalutara Town Club as they remained the  only unbeaten team in the tier ‘B’ segment. Sameera Sandamal madea century for KTC in this match while Danushika Bandara captured five wickets for Panadura.

The CCC vs SSC tussle is one of the matches to watch out for in the coming week with plenty of national stars in action, while you can catch the live action of this encounter on ThePapare.com, Dialog TV channel no.1 and Dialog MyTV.
The tier ‘B’ tournament has been thrown wide open with eight out of nine teams already recording first innings or outright wins at the conclusion of just two weeks, which has meant that Panadura SC is the only unbeaten team in the tournament. The high riding Panadura unit will meet Navy this week while Lankan CC will meet Kurunegala in another match that could go either way.
