16-year-old Minagi Rupasinghe bagged a national record in the women’s 1500-meter freestyle event at the 46th National Age Group Aquatic Championship 2022.

This was the first National Record in the event for Rupasinghe, who is coached by Manoj Abeysinghe and represented Killer Whale Aquatics at the competition, setting the bar with an outstanding timing of 19:12.97 in the long-distance race.

Currently she holds the national records for the 100m and 200m backstroke plus the 400m individual medley. She was also one of the youngest swimmers to represent Sri Lanka at the South Asian Games in 2019 held in Nepal.
