The 118th Lovers’ Quarrel played between Richmond College and Mahinda College ended in a draw today (18th March), at Galle International Cricket Stadium.
After being 74/3 at the stumps on Day 1, Richmond College lost the remaining 7 wickets for 146 runs, being bowled out for 220 and handing a 96-run first innings advantage to Mahinda College.
Sri Lanka U19 cap Malsha Tharupathi was the star performer with the bat for Richmond College as he contributed with a brilliant half-century. Dinura Kalupahana and Shehan Hasaranga stole the limelight with the ball for Mahinda College, snaring 3 wickets each.
Mahinda College declared their second innings after posting 170/8, and set a target of 267 runs to win for the Richmondites. The Richmond wrist-spinner Tharupathi showcased his skills with the ball, taking 4 scalps for 70 runs.
