Even though Java Lane was down in the first half, they played beyond their limitations in the second half to come back. Java Lane should focus on their defense since their strikers always have high class performance. Savior of Java Lane Madhawa Ruwansiri was successful with his penalty which was the first goal.

Renown run rampage in first half

Striker Fazal started off with the first goal by scoring directly from the corner kick in the 11th minute. Though opponent goal keeper Osman dived, he was unable to reach the ball before it reached the nets.

Another attempt made by Rifnaz was saved by the opponent goal keeper. The rebound ball was cleared to the offensive area. helped Rizni to catch the ball before the goal keeper collected it. A small lob was made before he got in contact with the goal keeper.

Second half comeback falls short

From the beginning of the second half Renown SC were under pressure. After refreshing during the half time Java Lane were determined to win the game. Though they could not beat their opponents they managed to keep them under pressure throughout the second half.

Java Lane got an opportunity to score the first goal by a penalty. Left defender of Renown Prasath Yogaraja tackled Harshana Sumudu from behind while Sumudu was dribbling the ball towards the goal post. Referee awarded a penalty kick to the boys from Slave Island. Madhawa Ruwansiri successfully booted the penalty kick in the 50th minute.

Few minutes later an unexpected pass given by Zarwan to Sumudu who could not stop the ball as he was faster than the pass. Spectators expected that shot to be a goal as Sumudu was alone facing the goal keeper. Almost 3 defenders got caught to Zarwan’s actions and failed to stop the pass.

In the 74th minute Renown scored their final goal when Fazal gave a lob pass to Rifnaz who cleared his way by dribbling the ball between the defenders and scoring the goal in an easy way.

In the 84th minute Madhawa made a lob pass from the half line to Rizkhan who collected the ball inside the penalty box. Rizkhan’s way of thinking at that moment was completely different. Opponents thought he would make a flat short and tried to tackle. Instead of taking a shot Rizkhan lobbed the ball on top of the goal keeper to score.
