Torrential rains disrupted play in all six matches in the opening match day of the Sri Lanka Cricket Premier League Tournament 2015/16 on Friday.

The marquee clash of the weekend between the neighbours, NCC vs SSC at NCC grounds saw only 2.4 overs of play after SSC skipper Danushka Gunathilake won the toss and elected to field. The hosts’ were 7 for no loss.

In another key clash between Moors SC and Ragama CC at Braybrooke Place, Ragama were 23 for no wicket in 8.4 overs. Former Peterite Lahiru Milantha was not out on 22.

Colts CC lost both their openers, Sadeera Samarawickrama and Shehan Fernando cheaply to the bowling of Imran Khan in their match against Bloomfield C & AC at Bloomfield grounds. The visitors were 24 for 2 in 6 overs.

The highest number of overs were bowled at Panagoda in the match between Badureliya SC and Sri Lanka Army SC. The Soldiers were 63 for 3 in 18 overs. Right-handed Shalika Karunanayake is currently unbeaten on 29.

Saracens SC were 14 for 1 in 4.4 overs at Mattegoda in their Group A match against Sri Lanka Ports Authority Cricket Club. Seamer Omesh Wijesiriwardana captured the solitary wicket.

The game between CCC and Tamil Union at Maitland Crescent was unable to commence due to wet ground conditions.
