Matara SC and Palink SC had to share points as rain played spoilers yesterday(4) in their womens division 1 limited over fixture played at the Surrey Grounds in Maggona.
With rain interrupting the game during the morning session, the game was reduced to a 49 over encounter. Matara SC taking first lease of the wicket, managed to make a respectable 201/8 in their allotted number of overs. Apsara Baddage led the Matara SC batting effort with an elegant 83 runs while Lihini Apsara and Susima Dilani chipped in with 23 and 20 respectively. Rashmi Ranasinghe was the best bowler for Palink SC picking up 3/34 while getting good support from Malsha Ranathunga who ended up with figures of 2/32. Only 18 overs were bowled in the Palink SC innings when the heavens opened up meaning there was no further play for the day.
