Rain halts play in Katugastota

St. Anthony’s College Katugastota took on D. S Senanayake College Colombo in a rain hit inter school cricket encounter played in Kandy today.

 

The visitors winning the toss elected to bat first and at the close of play were on 191 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 53 over’s. It was a good batting display by the D. S batsmen who played a careful game. Uvin Bandara was the highest scorer for D. S scoring a superb 49 while Shifran Multhalif and Binura Fernando scored 39 runs to put on a solid foundation for their team. Muthalif was unbeaten on 39 runs at the close of play and looked in good knick scoring freely in his short stay at the crease. 

The D. S first innings score was given light with a useful 4th wicket partnership by Uvin Bandara and Binura Fernando who scored 71 important runs to set up a solid total at the top of the innings. 

For the Antonian bowlers it was Buwanaka Wijethunga and Sachin Bulathsinhala who captaured 2 wickets each before the match was called off due to bad weather.
