Prestigious Lion awarded for sports in Trinity College

Trinitian batsman and one of the leading run scorer’s in the recently concluded Singer A Division school cricket league Arjuna Jayasinghe were one of the three sportspersons who were conferred with the prestigious ‘Trinity Lion’ award for cricket in the recently concluded final assembly held at the Trinity College main hall.

Alongside Jayasinghe were Chamod Dissanayaka & Shenal Abeywarna who was appreciated for their efforts in boxing and weight-lifting respectively. Jayasinghe who was a regular in the college 1st XI cricket rose up the ranks in his final year stealing the spotlight to be the highest run getter for the team. It was due to his consistent batting performances that Trinity College was crowned as league champions topping the table under the captaincy of Raveen Sayer. 

Colors for boxing were also awarded to D.R. Ranasinghe, V. V. Mahadulewewa and Saranga Gunathilake. Gunathilake who stood out in the school rugby format as dominating full back donning the college jersey will end his sporting career as triple colors-men with colors for athletics, rugby & boxing respectively. In the list of the colors-men who were appreciated in the cricketing field were Duvindu Tilekeratna, Dilan Jayalath, Shanogeeth Shanmuganathan, Lahiru Kumara & Hasitha Boyagoda. Cricket colors were re-awarded to Kaveen Hiniduma and Nushan Weerasinghe.

Also in the colors list was Mohammed Naveed for tennis &  Lalitha Heenagama for his efforts in basketball
