Sri Lanka Women produced a commanding all-round performance to defeat Pakistan Women by eight wickets in the third and final ODI of the three-match series played today (28th July) at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota, sealing the series 2-1.
Having won the toss, Sri Lanka elected to bowl first and made an immediate impact with the new ball. Seamer Chethana Vimukthi ripped through Pakistan’s top order in the second over of the innings, claiming three wickets without conceding a run to leave the visitors reeling.

Pakistan struggled to recover from the early collapse as Sri Lanka’s bowlers maintained the pressure throughout the innings. Captain Chamari Athapaththu and all-rounder Kavisha Dilhari complemented Vimukthi’s brilliance with three wickets apiece, helping dismiss Pakistan for 187 in 40 overs.
In reply, Sri Lanka made light work of the chase with the top order taking complete control. Athapaththu set the tone with an aggressive half-century, while Harshitha Samarawickrama continued her rich vein of form by following up her century in the previous match with another composed fifty.
Hasini Perera also contributed a valuable unbeaten half-century as Sri Lanka comfortably reached the target for the loss of just two wickets in the 38th over.
The victory secured a memorable 2-1 series triumph for Sri Lanka Women and marked their first bilateral ODI series win over Pakistan Women in 24 years, making it a historic achievement for the hosts.
