CCC V Tamil Union

The CCC put up a stunning performance to pull off a six wicket outright victory over Tamil Union with a day to spare in their SLC Premier League tournament Super Eight match which concluded at the Colts ground in Havelock Park today.

CCC spearheaded by a brilliant bowling performance from Lakshan Rangika went on to dismiss their opponents for a low score for the second time in the match and to set up a morale boosting victory.

The dynamic left arm spinner was in tremendous form as he had the satisfaction of claiming his second seven wicket haul for the current season which enabled CCC to dismiss Tamil Union for 225 runs in their second innings.

Ports v Army

Meanwhile Sri Lanka Ports Authority CC cruised to a resounding ten wicket outright victory over Sri Lanka Army Sports Club in their SLC inter club Premier League tournament Super Eight match which concluded at Maitland Crescent today.

Army SC who were trailing by a massive 281 runs on the first innings were forced to follow on and they were always up against it and never looked like stretching the game into the fourth and final day.

They of course managed to double their first innings total with an improved performance in the second innings but the odds were heavily against them despite two fighting half centuries from middle order batsmen Lakshitha Madushan (63) and Lakshan Edirisinghe (74).

The unlikely hero for Ports Authority CC was their captain and part time bowler Ashan Priyanjan who had the credit of returning his best figures for the current season with excellent figures of five wickets for 71 runs.

Bloomfield v Badureliya

Bloomfield snatched a thrilling two runs outright victory over Badureliya CC with more than a day to spare in their SLC Premier League inter club tournament Plate Championship fixture which concluded at Katunayake today.

Badureliya CC chasing a modest victory target of 178 runs made a complete mess out of it and they fell short by just two runs at the end with Nuwan Pradeep (3 for 59) and Vishwa Fernando (3 for 37) sharing the wickets for Bloomfield.

Earlier Badureliya CC raised their hopes of turning the game once again in their favour while dismissing Bloomfield for the second time in the match thanks to some penetrative bowling from Romesh Kaluarachchi (4 for 31) and Imesh Udayanga (3 for 43).

NCC v Ragama

The NCC powered their way to a comprehensive innings and 49 runs outright victory over Ragama CC with a day to spare in their SLC Premier League inter club tournament Super Eight match which concluded at Braybrooke Place today.

Ragama CC who had conceded a first innings lead of 229 runs failed to make an impact with the bat once again and were dismissed for just 180 runs in their second attempt.

The two spinners Dushmantha Chameera and Tharindu Kaushalya did most of the damage as the NCC spin duo ripped through the Ragama CC middle order while sharing seven wickets between them.
