University of Moratuwa was shredded to pieces by New Youngs FC by a 7-0 score line in the FA Cup Round of 64 clash worked off at the Kelaniya Football Complex.

New Youngs were the overwhelming favourites of the tie and the Champions League outfit fielded a rather young team. UOM on the other hand were eyeing an upset in the competition, known to be the giant killer’s playground.

New Youngs supremacy was evident as they rattled the upright as early as the 1st minute, after which waves and waves of attacks were launched towards the UOM goal.

Due to some poor finishing however and some neat glove work by D.M.Pandithage the game was kept scoreless.

The lads from Moratuwa soon ran out of luck as three quick goals seemingly put the game beyond their reach. Mohomed Mushikan broke the deadlock with a scrumptious scissors kick as Hasitha Priyankara added the second. Mushikan went on to score his brace as New Youngs took a resounding lead into the break.

Half Time – Uni of Moratuwa 0 – 3 New Youngs FC

New Youngs toned down a notch as they looked to breeze through the second half. However with minutes ticking on they killed the game off as Mushikan completed his hat trick and Hasitha added his second.

With the game all but settled New Youngs played a positional game as they kept hold of the ball in midfield. UOM showed signs of fatigue and frustration as they couldn’t muster any resistance throughout the game.

Things went from bad to worse for the lads from Moratuwa as Raza Mohamed picked up a straight red card for a last ditch tackle which summed up his team’s performance for the day.

Hasitha Priyankara put the icing on the cake as he added a third to his tally wrapping the game up in emphatic fashion.

There was time for one attempt as Hasitha added yet another to his tally as New Youngs progressed to the round of 32 with a 7 star performance.
