Team Galle registered their second win of the National Super League 4-Day Tournament 2024 as they defeated Team Colombo by 4 wickets today (18th February) at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota.

The off-spinner Nishan Peiris and left-arm spinner Nimesh Vimukthi bowled brilliantly to restrict Team Colombo to 197 runs in their second innings.

Peiris picked up 6 wickets for 47 runs, while Vimukthi grabbed 4 wickets for 69 runs. Team Galle were set an easy target of 88 runs, but they had to battle hard to cross over the line.

Pavan Rathnayaka’s brilliant double century was the highlight of the encounter between Team Dambulla and Team Jaffna, which continued for Day 3 today at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.

Rathnayaka made 240 runs off 401 balls with 23 fours and 2 sixes, while Chamindu Wijesinghe notched up his 3rd first-class century as Team Dambulla posted a mammoth total – 619/8 on the board before declaring their first innings.

In reply, Team Jaffna posted 274/8 at the close of play on Day 3. Ron Chandraguptha struck an excellent century, while Janith Liyanage contributed with a useful half-century.
