National discard Kapugedara guides Wayamba

An unbeaten 56 off 34 balls by Chamara Kapugedara set up a comfortable seven wicket win over Ruhuna in their low-scoring inter-provincial limited over semi-finals played at P Sara Oval yesterday.

National discard left-handed hammered six sixes in his brisk innings to help Wayamba reached 162 in the 20th over chasing 161 to win. 

He shared an unfinished 80 runs for the fourth wicket with Maharoof who was unbeaten on 33 off 34 balls. Dilshan Munaweera also made an quick-fire  48 off 28 with nine fours and a six. Earlier batting first Ruhuna managed just 161 as Wayamba exhibited an impressive bowling display.

Sohan Boralessa was the pick of the bowler claiming three for 27 runs while Kosala Kulasekara and Nuwan Pradeep claimed two wickets apiece to bowl Ruhuna out with 11 overs to spare. Shehan Jayasuriya played a responsible innings top scoring with 69 while Sachith Pathirana made 36 unbeaten.
