The most awaited National Age Group Swimming Championship returns for its 44th edition this August at the iconic Sugathadasa Indoor Swimming Complex. The meet will last a full 4 days, with commencement set on the 9th August.

Keeping with tradition, the meet will feature 5 age categories starting from the Under 11 all the way to the Under 20s. The 20 & Over open event can be participated in by swimmers born before/in 1998.

176 heats and finals are scheduled to take place during the course of 4 days with over 300 participants, from both school and clubs, hitting the waters. 2017 Champions Visakha Vidyalaya and St. Joseph’s College will return to the waters in numbers to retain their respective titles for one more year.

With Visakha Vidyalaya taking home the 2017 championship with 445.5 points, runners-up Lyceum International Wattala will look to rattle the Visakhians this year. 15-time All Island Swimming Champions from Maradana, St. Joseph’s College will return this year to defend their title in the National Age Groups.

Ganga Senevirathne, Ramudi Samarakoon, Akalanka Peiris, Nabhashie Perera, Vinoli Kaluarachchi and many more swimmers on the hot trail for victory can be expected to showcase their talents at this years’ competition.
