The Relay Carnival, also known as the National Age Group Relay Championships 2023, is set to take place on Saturday, the 21st of January, at Sugathadasa Swimming Pool Complex.
It is the opening event of 2023, organized by the national governing body of aquatic sports – SLASU.
41 Schools and clubs around the island will take part on this day under 6 age groups: Under 11, 13, 15, 17, 20, and Open. One institute can only enter a maximum of 2 teams for each age group.
Visakha Vidyalaya and St. Joseph’s College are the current champions of the Relay Carnival for their wins in 2022.
Additionally, the National 5km Open water sea swim will be on the next day, Sunday, the 22nd of January, at Balapitiya. The National 10km open water sea swim will be on the following Sunday, the 29th, at the same venue. The competition will be open to all competitors who are 14 years of age and above.
The 2023 aquatic calendar was released on the 1st week of January, making it a very engaging year for the aquatic community.
