Bronze to Sri Lanka at Asian Age Group Aquatic Championships

Sri Lanka’s 18 & over women’s relay team won the bronze medal in the 4*200m Freestyle relay at the recently held 11th Asian Age Group Aquatic Championships 2024 in New Clark City, Philippines from 26th February – 09th March 2024. 

This medal marks the first medal for the island in an Asian Age Group Aquatic Championships after Akalanka Peiris’s wins at the 9th Asian Age Group Aquatic Championships 2017 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. 

The Sri Lankan winning team members are Minagi Rupasinghe, Seneshi Herath, Aneeka Senevirathne, and Linara Gunasekara. 

In swimming, Sri Lanka owned the 18th rank with the 1 bronze medal, and Japan ranked 1st, followed by Kazakhstan. 

The Diving medal table was dominated by Japan, followed by the People’s Republic of China. 

Kazakhstan topped the artistic swimming medal table, while Japan won both men’s and women’s water polo championships. Iran and Thailand became the runners-up in the water polo standings. 

In addition, Sri Lanka stood overall 21st among the 30 countries that participated, while Japan led the table with 46 golds, 21 silvers, and 8 bronze medals.
