Mumbai rejects Malinga in the replacement
Veteran seamer Lasith Malinga who’s currently the bowling mentor in the Mumbai Indians camp will remain there, after Mumbai Indians pick Adam Milne for the injured Pat Cummings in the Vivo IPL 2018.

Milne, who went unsold (base price 75 lakh INR) in the recent IPL auctions, represented Royal Challengers Bangalore in the last two seasons. He has played five IPL matches so far and has four wickets at an economy of 9.8.

Cummins never travelled to India after the conclusion of the Test series in South Africa owing to back injury and had been officially ruled out of the season on April 10. “Pat experienced some back soreness during the fourth Test in South Africa. Follow-up scans have confirmed that he has bone edema in his vertebrae. It is important that Pat has time off bowling, to prevent the injury becoming more serious and consequently, we have made the decision to rule Pat out of the IPL,” David Beakley, Australia’s physiotherapist, had said.

Milne, known for his raw pace, can hit the bat hard with his nippy action and has the ability to use long levers if and when needed. The 26-year-old is the second Kiwi to be named as a replacement by any franchise after Corey Anderson replaced Nathan Coulter Nile in the RCB squad.

MI haven’t had the best of times so far in IPL 2018 and have lost all their three games so far. They now take on RCB on April 17 at home and will hope to turn things around after three close losses.
