The 76th Battle of the Golds between St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa and Prince of Wales’ College, Moratuwa is set to take place on March 6th, 7th, and 8th at the De Soysa Stadium in Moratuwa.
In addition to the traditional three-day encounter, the 41st One-Day Encounter and the 4th T20 encounter will be played on March 14tth and 15th respectively, at the same venue.
Big Match History
The last time the two-day Big Match produced an outright result was in 2011, when St. Sebastian’s emerged victorious. Meanwhile, Prince of Wales’ College have not tasted victory in the longer format since 1977.
Overall, Prince of Wales’ hold the edge in the Big Match history with six wins, while St. Sebastian’s have won the Big Match in four occasions.
The most recent victory for St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa came in 2024, while Prince of Wales’ College, Moratuwalast recorded a win in 1977.
One Day Encounter
Out of the 40 One-Day Big Matches played so far, St. Sebastian’s have the upper hand with 20 wins, while Prince of Wales’ have secured 16 victories. One match ended in a tie.
However, in the most recent encounter — the 40th One-Day Big Match played in 2025 — Prince of Wales’ claimed a commanding 105-run victory.
T20 Encounter
St. Sebastian’s have dominated the T20 format, winning all three matches played to date. Last year, they secured an emphatic 89-run win at the De Soysa Stadium in Moratuwa

Almeida has been the leading run-scorer for the side in the two-day school season, with 567 runs. Right arm off spinner Malintha Silva & Sri Lanka U19 Cap has been their standout bowler, claiming 37 wickets to emerge as the team’s leading wicket taker.
Pasan Wanasinghe serves as the Head Coach of St. Sebastian’s College this season.

Prince of Wales’ College will be captained by right handed batter and right arm off spinner Suwahas Fernando.

Oshan de Silva has been their leading run scorer in the two-day season with 550 runs, while left arm spinner Nethul Anuhas has impressed with the ball, picking up 31 wickets to become their top wicket-taker.
Premlal Fernando is the Head Coach of Prince of Wales’ College this season.
