Old Peterite Veterans will meet the Old Thomian Masters on the 30th of August for the annual encounter between the past pupils from the two institutions which will be played at the Colts Cricket Grounds in Park Road.
The encounter will be a 30-over affair which will commence at 10.00 am. The game is played after a break of 8 years with the hopes of continuing it as an annual event. Deepal Ahangama of Thomian Masters and Peter Deckker of Old Peterite Veterans have got together with OPSC (Old Peterite Sports Club) Chairman Kumantha Ranasinghe and OBU 2020 headed by Asela Lihinikaduwa to re-organize this match between the two schools. The match is to be played as a 50-plus encounter from this year onwards.

The encounter was inaugurated in 2001 by Mr Mano Chanmugam, a past president of the Peterites Old Boys Union, in memory of his brother Michael Chanmugam. Indunil Anthony, a former Peterite Cricketer has come forward through his company ‘Stewarts’ to sponsor the playing kits for the Old Pererite Veterans team. The Rector of St Peter’s College has also extended his support to restart this Trophy.
