Dilshan Madushanka has reportedly joined the latest list of injuries for Sri Lanka ahead of the ACC Men’s Asia Cup set to commence on the 30th of August.

Madushanka is reported to have picked up a side strain in the leadup to the Asia Cup and could be in doubt for Sri Lanka’s title defense which will begin with their game against Bangladesh in Pallekelle on the 31st of August.

The defending champions will already be without the services Dushmantha Chameera (shoulder) and Wanindu Hasaranga (hamstring) and Lahiru Kumara (side strain/injury management) all picked up injuries during the recently concluded Lanka Premier League. Meanwhile, Kusal Perera and Avishka Fernando have tested positive for Covid.

This means that Kasun Rajitha could come in for Chameera, while Binura Fernando will replace Dilshan Madushanka in the squad. Asitha Fernando, who was recently signed by Nottinghamshire CCC for the English County Championship, may have to give the opportunity a pass as he is likely to be drafted in as a standby player for the Asia Cup.
