MAS Unichela vs Dimo

Mahela Udawatte struck a brilliant century while retired Sri Lankan opener T.M. Dilshan and Chamara Silva chipped in with half centuries for MAS Unichela  to overcome a hapless Dimo outfit by 195 runs in the 1st semi-final of the  24th SINGER – MCA Premier Knock-Out Tournament  worked off  at the De Soysa ground in Moratuwa today(15th).

After being asked to bat first, MAS Unichela amassed a mammoth score of 349/6 in their allotted 50 overs with Mahela Udawatte top scoring with 134 runs which included 14 hits to the rope and 2 over it. T.M. Dishan also made a solid half century while Chamara Silva gave impetus to the latter part of their innings making 71 runs.

Dimo lost regular wickets during their chase and eventually folded up for a paltry  154 with more than 20 overs of their innings remaining.  T.M. Dilshan and Dilruwan Perera picked up 3 wickets each for MAS Unichela to book their place in the final.

Commercial Credit vs John Keells

Commercial Credit beat John Keells by 30 runs in the 2nd semifinal of the same tournament worked off at the FTZ ground in Katunayake today. Commercial Credit after winning the toss and batting first, managed 254 all out with useful contributions coming from Ashan Priyanjana (61) and Upul Tharanga(52) while John Keells fast bowlers Ishan Jayarathne and Vikum Sanjaya shared 6 wickets between them.

In reply, John Keells were very much in the hunt but eventually were bowled out for 224 with  the Commercial Credit spinners doing the bulk of the damage. Bhanuka Rajapakse stood firm for most of the John Keells innings top scoring with 71, but with his dismissal John Keells lost their way falling short by 30 runs.
