Malith De Silva hands Bloomfield first innings points

A magnificent 5-for by Malith De Silva handed Bloomfield a lead of 91 and first innings points while leaving Galle CC in tatters.

Bloomfield added 10 runs to their overnight score of 266 eventually been bowled out for 276 in their first innings early on day two.

Galle CC came out to bat with confidence of chasing down the average score posted by the hosts only to be bamboozled by the left arm spin of young Malith De Silva.

Galle opener Damitha Hunukumbura played a fighting knock of 54 and was unfortunate to be dismissed to the bowling of Lahiru Fernando. Chalana de Silva was the only other batsman to go past 20 runs notching up a quick 32 off 30 balls with a single six and four boundaries.  

Malith De Silva ended with a magnificent 5 for 60 while Lahiru Fernando bagged 3 for 52 for the home team.

With a 91 run lead in hand, Bloomfield came out to bat in their second innings. Captain Nipun Karunanayake ended on an unbeaten 38 while Thiran Dhanapala was not out on 4 at close of play on day two.

The game will continue for the third and final day tomorrow at Bloomfield grounds.
