Star batsman Mahela Jayawardena made a remarkable come back with a dominating 90 off 83 balls to help SSC to a comfortable 38-run (D/L) win over Moors at Braybrook place yesterday.

Jayawardena who opted out from the ongoing limited over series against Pakistan in Dubai was at his brilliant best as he took the bowlers to sword in his match winning effort

Moors batting first scored a formidable 276/8 on the back of two half centuries from Chathuranga de Silva and Isham Ghouse but could not stop Jayawardena and his fellow opener Danushka Gunatillake (75 n.o) as the pair added 133 runs for the first wicket in just 24 overs. Jayawardena hit four sixes and nine fours.

SSC were 215-2 at the end of the 38th over when the match was stopped for bad light. The Duckworth Lewis par score at the moment was 178.

Earlier half centuries by all rounder Chathuranga de Silva and Isham Ghouse   helped Moors make 276 runs. 

De Silva  made 71 off 67 balls with three sixes while Ghouse made 57 off 94 with five boundaries and a six.
