Lights to be used if necessary

After the debacle of Sri Lanka having to scramble for runs in their chase at R Premadasa Stadium with an impending DuckworthLewis due to the natural light fading, it was announced by Sri Lanka Cricket today that both Sri Lanka & South Africa Teams and their respective Boards are in agreement to use lights in the event the light deteriorates during the 3rd ODI of the South Africa Tour of Sri Lanka One Day Series to be played on the 12th of July at  Mahinda Rajapakse International Cricket Stadium in Hambanthota.

The amended playing conditions state that the hours of play shall be extended by 15 mins a match where play is delayed or interrupted

Minutes, Artificial Lights may be used for the 3rd ODI at Hambantota, in the event of deterioration of natural light, as per the opinion of the umpires, and they shall

authorize the ground authorities to use available artificial lights as and when necessary where the match can continue in an acceptable conditions.

In the event of power failure or lights malfunction, the provisions relating to the delay or interruption of play due to bad weather or light shall apply.
