Former Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara has been appointed as the new chairman of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) World cricket committee.
Sangakkara will take over the reins from former England cricketer Mike Gatting who had served as the committee chairman for six years.
Well-known cricketing icons Sourav Ganguly, Justin Langer, Graeme Smith, Eoin Morgan and Heather Knight will be the other members of the committee.

Sangakkara had held the post of the president of the club for two years from 2019 to 2021. He was the first non-British person to occupy the presidency post of MCC.
Former Hampshire captain and renowned commentator Mark Nicholas will take over as the president of the club.
