He will be one of the on-field Umpires in the upcoming Test series between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, which is scheduled to commence on 24th October.

This will be a special milestone in Dharmasena’s second life as he has never officiated a Test in Sri Lanka, nor a Test involving Sri Lanka. However, he has made appearances as a TV Umpire in 4 Test matches in Sri Lanka. Apart from that, he has also conducted 11 ODIs and 2 T20Is involving Sri Lanka, as an on-field Umpire.

The ICC has relaxed its rule that previously prevented Umpires from the host country standing in home Tests due to COVID travel restrictions, thereby granting Dharmasena the opportunity to officiate in the series.

Dharmasena is one of the best Umpires in the world, and is the only one to play in and officiate in a World Cup final.
