St Sebastians College easily over-powered Dharmasoka College Ambalangoda in a match played at Moratuwa to win their inter-school U 19 Kotemale Chox T20 encounter by 4 wickets.

 

The Ambalangoda lads took first lease of the wicket but the Moratuwa team kept them well in check reducing them to a mere 126 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Thanura Halabage 41 was the lone fighter for Dharmasokatop. Sebs bowling figures were headed by Sangeeth Cooray who grabbed 2 for 14 and Visal Senanayake who chipped in with 2 for 20.

St Sebastians chased the target with ease reaching 129 for 6 in just 17 overs. Anuk Fernando smashed a brilliant 51 with Avishka Fernando aiding him on 42.  Yohan De Silva for Dharmasoka showed figures of 2/13 in a good bowling spell.

Dharmasoka College Ambalangoda – 126 in 20 overs (Thanura Halabage 41, Hasindu Vidarshana 25, Sangeeth Cooray 2/14, Visal Senanayake 2/20).

St Sebastians College Moratuwa – 129/6 in 17 overs (Anuk Fernando 51, Avishka Fernando 43, Yohan Silva 2/13).

Nalanda vs Trinity

Nalanda took on Trinity college Kandy in another of the Kotmale Chox inter-schools T20 encounter played at Asgiriya Stadium Kandy.

Trinity College took first lease of the wicket but fared poorly with the Kandy school managing just 123 for 6 wickets in their quota of 20.  After Bhargy Pallihawardena opened with a blistering 37 off 30 deliveries, Trinity fell apart and fellow batsman, his colleague Rajitha Jayathunga added respectability with an identical 37 of 30 balls, matching him pace for pace. 

Bowling best for Nalanda was Anuthara Madawa 2 for 26 and Malinga Silva 2 for 23.

In their essay Nalanda accumulated with some hiccups. Woshantha Silva played the innings of the day smashing 36 in just 20 delivers with 7 scorching fours taking the pressure of the est of the batting. The visiting school reached the target of 124 with 3 overs to spare but not before Dilan Wenura made 34 off 33 balls pulling Nalanda out of rut of 71 for 5. 

Trinity College Kandy -123 for 6 in 20 overs (Bhaghya Pallihawadana 37, Rajitha Jayatunga 37, Aviskha Dissanayake 21, Amrith Srimahan 20, Anuthara Madawa 2 for 26, Malinga de Silva 2 for 23).

Nalanda College Colombo -125 for 6 in 17.1 overs (Woshantha Silva 36, Dilhan Wenura 34, Malinga Amerasinghe 27, Charith Sudaraka 2 for 23).
