Chanaka Komasaru decimates Kalutara; Lankan CC post 422

Here’s a look at a few matches which took place today in the SLC Tier B Premier League Tournament.

SL Ports Authority VS Kalutara Physical Culture Club

Chanaka Komasaru’s five wicket haul helped SLPA take the upper hand on Day 1 in their match against Kalutara PCC at Mattegoda. Chanaka’s efforts helped his team bundle out their opponents for a mere 49 runs in 22.2 overs. Chamikara Edirisinghe also played vital role with the ball as he took 4 wickets for just 8 runs. Kalutara’s efforts with the bat were way below par as there was only two batsmen who got to double figures in this innings.

In reply, SLPA were 286 for 3 in 62 overs. No 3 batsman Ishan Rangana was unbeaten on 97 and Prashan Wickramasinghe was unbeaten on 51.

SL Navy SC VS Panadura SC

Veteran left arm orthodox bowler Gayan Sirisoma’s heroics with the ball late in the day helped Panadura take an early advantage in their game against Navy SC. Gayan bowled splendidly with the new ball taking two wickets in his first over which was only the second over of Navy’s innings. Navy had a horrible start to their innings as they lost  5 wickets for just 25 runs in a space of ten overs. Dinushka Malan and Sameera Sandamal fought hard and the pair put up 72 runs for the 6th wicket. At stumps on day 1, Navy were 97 for 5 in 35 overs.

Early on, Panadura SC posted 268 all out in their first innings. Half centuries from Captain and former national player Chamara Silva and youngster Mishen Silva stood out in their innings while the other batters failed to go past the 30 run mark. The pair put up 143 runs for the third wicket. With the ball Ishan Abeysekara bagged 4 for 78 and Dilanka Auwardt took 3 for 47.

Kurunegala YCC vs Lankan CC

Chanaka Ruwansiri’s century and a couple of half centuries from the middle order helped Lankan CC to post a mammoth 422 all out on day one in their match against Kurunegala YCC in Kurunegala. Chanaka came in at no 6 and scored a 125 ball century which included 7 boundaries and 6 maximums. He and Lal Kumar put on 166 for the fifth wicket at a brisk pace. Former Peterite all-rounder Lakshan Rodrigo scored a quick fire 91 off just 88 balls to lay the platform for his team. Later in the day a cameo from Rajeewa Weerasinghe saw the visitors post 422 in just 89.2 overs.

Mithun Jayawickrama bagged 3 for 103 for the home side but it was indeed a run fest on day one in Kurunegala.
